Founded in 1982, the SouthWest Zone Hockey Association has served generations of players and families across southwest Edmonton. For more than four decades we've delivered competitive community hockey built on player development, sportsmanship and a lifelong love of the game.
We are a volunteer-run not-for-profit. Almost every role in the association from coaches, managers, board members, and the people running the clock, is filled by a parent giving their time. That shapes how we operate, and it's why we ask every family to take a turn.

Our Values
Fair Play. Winning matters, but not more than how we play. We expect our teams to compete hard, respect the rules, and represent SWZ well whether they're up by five or down by five.
Respect. For teammates, opponents, officials and volunteers. Officials in particular are often young people learning the game themselves — how we treat them says everything about our association.
Teamwork. Development happens in a room, not in isolation. Every player has a role, and a strong team culture makes better hockey players and better people.
Accountability. This applies to everyone, not just players. Coaches are accountable for how they run a bench, parents for how they behave in the stands, and the board for how we run the association.
How We're Governed
SWZ is a member of Hockey Edmonton and operates under the rules of Hockey Edmonton, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada. Our teams play in the Edmonton Federation Hockey League.
The association is directed by an elected volunteer board. Board positions are filled at our Annual General Meeting each spring, and any member family is eligible to stand for nomination to the board.
